Sunday Edition: "Planting Seeds"

Image
Today's message: take an extra look around wherever you are today to stop and stare; drinking in the truly amazing 'things' around you.  When is the last time you, "stopped and stared?"  For me, it was this morning.  In my home's sunroom during my morning meditation I set my gaze to the many trees in my backyard.  The thought of tiny seeds entering the soil many, many years ago... to now having flourished into what are beautiful, sweeping and tall trees populating the landscape was awe inspiring to me as I went through my breathe work rituals.  Pictured above a local favorite landmark of mine and I'm sure many other park goers; The Delaware Park Mighty Oak sitting directly in the middle of #9 fairway at Delaware Park Golf Course.  So as I wrap up this Serve 2 Soar Sunday edition  here, ask yourself, "what seeds am I planting today that will surely grow into big, beautiful things (habits, relationships, investments, rituals, etc.) over the coming many

"Your (Google) Review got me the biggest promotion of my life."

Today's message: The little things will often mean the most to you and to those around you. This morning I went to my local tire shop (Dunn Tire) to get snow tires mounted for the imminent winter season.   Just a regular Friday morning here in sunny Buffalo NY. Until the morning took an inspiring and impactful turn.  As I stood in a long line waiting to be seen by one of the employees for my appointment, I recognized a familiar face in the tire shop garage in the backdrop. It was a friend I made years back who used to work for Dunn Tire and has since returned to take on a leadership position. Aaron, who I haven't seen in a few years, came out to the office to say hello and shared something with me that gave me goosebumps. Because I had such a great experience a few years back with Aaron at the helm of providing service to my car, I felt compelled to pen a google review to share my incredibly positive experience. So, in our exchange, Aaron shares with me this morning that that

7 growth tips from a former CXO of a multi-billion dollar company to accelerate growth in YOUR life

I recently had the pleasure and privilege of having lunch with a special friend; someone who has mentored and inspired me over the years in more ways than I can count.  It had been some time since I had a chance to connect in-person with this mentor of mine, and as such, we had a lot to catch up on. Little did I know I would have a front row seat for almost 2.5 hours to what was one of the most resonant informal coaching sessions I have ever received from an accomplished leader.  Thus, I felt compelled to share this golden insight from someone who has spent decades growing businesses, relationships, networks and themselves.  So, here are 7 (of many) growth tips and insights (personal & professional) that I received from this truly legendary individual: 1. Avoid being a, "mile wide and an inch deep."     Overcommitting your time and focus have never been more prevalent in this hyper competitive marketplace that we all live in today. Knowing what your top 3 most valuable of

Archival Aspirations: Reposting LinkedIn Article on my Transformative Experiences in 2020 (+ a guide for you to transform)

Published on January 5, 2021 on my  LinkedIn Page The Mini-Manifesto to Transforming in 2021: How I transformed my life in one of the toughest years ever - 2020 Depressed. Dejected. Disengaged. Those are 3 words that accurately described me starting at the end of summer 2019 through the finish of 2019. It was the moment where I was sitting down to put on my boots, and in bending over to tie them, I found myself nearly breathless -- having to take breaks between tying each boot to catch my breath -- and it was then that I knew I had to make a SERIOUS change. I was 238 pounds. The most I've weighed ever (& by a lot...). And that weight number was a direct reflection of the status of my physical/mental/emotional and spiritual well-being --> deeply unhealthy. In late December 2019, after realizing I was either at, or close to my version of rock bottom, and even more candidly, I was one step removed from a real, traumatic happening with my overall health. It was that boot t

Traffic lights that make you wait for no reason. (automation is cool until it's not...)

So here it is, my second blog post! Hooray.  I'm trending in the right direction in that Saturday's moves to procure a domain name (www.serve2soar.blog) + draft up a first blog, and actually post it here, was not just a, "one-hit wonder!"  It couldn't be truer, that it's the little victories (things) in life, that keep us going... 🗲 And so we arrive to something I wanted you all to think about. Traffic lights that make you wait for no reason.  I thought of this concept after making the trek home earlier today from the post office. And so, a derivative I wanted to offer, of the sometimes often annoyance of being stuck at a red light when there's no traffic to be seen near and far, is that --> automated things are cool until they're not… Because those annoying traffic lights are operating on an automated (automatic) schedule, they can be a hindrance in your journey to where you are headed to.  Image source (MIT)  In this day and age where automation

You Are Needed: A Message to You, the Reader, & to Me.

Image
It has taken me 30 years to arrive to this moment. Penning my first ever formal blog post.  My inner voice has been whispering to me, and at times, screaming at me, "you are not good enough", "who's going to read anything that you post?", "why would someone look to you as a source of insight/inspiration?" I've listened to countless talks by Les Brown , one of the fathers of inspirational/motivational speaking.  Les' words ringing in my head daily (paraphrased), "I didn't do what I'm doing for years, because of my programming. It took me 14 years! 14 years to start living my dream. I thought to myself, why would anyone want to listen to me? I lacked the formal education that other people who were speaking possessed. And so I talked myself out of pursuing my passion until finally one day, I took the leap."  And so, this inaugural blog post is dedicated to YOU, the reader. Know that you are needed in this world. Your spirit. Your
